We gather next at Mitsu Cafe on Main Street N in Moose Jaw on January 6th, 2018 from 10 am – about 12:30 pm. (Please note: Mitsu is observing Winter Hours and will not be open before 10 am)

Vaughn has put on his thinking cap and is preparing another great challenge for learning for our group!

November Meeting Update!

001First off, thank you to all who pulled themselves away from Christmas preparations, parties, shopping and baking. It was great! There were 10 of us. We explored the theme “Drala.” If that is not a concept for you, keep reading and I will give a few guidelines. There is also a small slideshow to inspire. Great job, everyone! Awesome images!

A couple of housekeeping things:

  1. 1. Mitsu Cafe has new winter hours. Lucky for us, Anna stopped in there on Thursday to reserve the usual table… and found out that new winter hours are in effect as of Dec. 1st. A quick conversation with management and they agreed to open for us today at 9:30 am. We thanked them and they told us that they are happy our group gathers at Mitsu.

So, lucky for those of us who don’t like early mornings, we will meet every first Saturday at 10 am starting in January.

  1. 2. Anna & Colin have invited all Miksang members with spouses to their house. Since December is a busy time for everyone and most of us need something social  to break up the monotony in January 😉 let’s have a mini workshop and a party!!!

What will we do? We will explore the concept of capturing low light (remember the light rimmed grasses from the October mini-workshop?). This is a mini-workshop which is Anna’s Christmas gift to the group. (That means it is absolutely free to our members!)
Jean suggested we make it a potluck gathering and those present today were in agreement! So, mark your calendars: Saturday, January 13th, 2018, Sand Point Beach at 3 pm till???

Today’s Theme: DRALA

To better understand please read pgs. 110 through 113 in “Heart of Photgraphy – Way of Seeing Volume II” by John McQuade and Miriam Hall.

…the lived way to drala is not separate from flash of perception or dot-in-space, but it is more expressive. We are moving in to the way of the phenomenal world – the locus of the perceptual display, which is not different from what we actually experience..

…If you go looking for drala you won’t find it. Instead, spend some time contemplating the power of the images you have taken so far in this practice… Lean into that with direct experience, felt sense, not trying to analyze or understand why… You are always already connected with drala, so just go with that.

“Anything that connects you with the elemental quality of reality…” Go with that.
“Anything that connects you with the depth of perception…” Go with that.
“When you meet the elemental quality of the world…” Go with that.
“Discovering magic…” Go with that.
Go with that. That will be drala.
